designer. gear nerd. human.
I’m Jess - a multidisciplinary designer and technical product developer with a soft spot for gear, grit, and the kinds of products that get dragged through real life. My background blends years of climbing and backpacking instruction, a lifelong love of the arts, and more than five years designing and developing hardgoods and softgoods for the outdoor and consumer product industries.
My work sits at the intersection of performance, usability, manufacturability, and a clear point of view. It’s shaped by time spent using gear in the field, listening to the people who depend on it, and collaborating closely with suppliers, factories, and cross-functional teams to bring ideas into production.
I’m drawn to the small design decisions that make a product feel effortless: easier to carry, more satisfying to pack, more intuitive to use, etc. To me, the best products are functional and well-resolved, but they also feel like they morph into the user’s story. They feel considered, lived with, and quietly meaningful over time.
Outside of work, you can usually find me climbing, backcountry skiing, trail running, or finding some excuse to scramble around in the mountains. Most often, that means time in the Wasatch, the Utah desert, the Wind River Range, or the eastern Sierra.
